Resources for Couples in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT)

Set up for success
The couples I see who make the speediest progress are:
• oriented to EFCT,
• often use a workbook between sessions, and even
• attend a Hold Me Tight Workshop during their time with me.

Plenty of couples have excellent results without using these resources, but there’s no doubt they do help.

“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.” -Fred Rogers

Orientation
To help you prepare for EFCT sessions consider this website’s comprehensive coverage of the topic. This is very useful as most of us expect couples therapy to be very different from what we do together in an EFCT session, so it helps to be oriented.

Hold Me Tight (HMT) Workshops

HMT online
Here is an online Emotionally Focused Therapy independent workshop. You do it alone, or as a couple, you go at your own pace. It has as information and worksheets and videos etc. The HMT Workshop in a Virtual self-study tutorial/workshop can be a super helpful experience alongside therapy.
Online HMT here: https://holdmetightonline.com/

Live in-person HMT workshops
You can also find in-person live Hold Me Tight Workshops (google this) in the area and far afield, should you be up for a weekend couples retreat.

Online EFCT Information
And of course, check out Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy in a google search – and see what’s there in the Google ‘videos’ search. LOTS.
